The Apothecary Breathes...

The Apothecary Breathes...

I've always felt as though the apothecary is a living thing.

Not simply a business. Not merely shelves lined with bottles and labels.

A living entity.

Its rhythms have always been intimately intertwined with my own—a symbiotic relationship. Sometimes I think I share a nervous system with it. When I feel stretched thin, it feels stretched thin. When I become inspired, it seems to bloom alongside me. It has taught me that meaningful work cannot be separated from the seasons in which it is created.

Within these shelves live the intelligences of the plants themselves. Every tincture, oxymel, oil, and syrup represents years of observation, study, and relationship. They are more than products. They are conversations. A living library built on reciprocity, reverence, and time.

Like every living thing, the apothecary has gone through many iterations.

And so have I.

The way I worked even two years ago no longer fits the woman I've become. Motherhood changed me. My studies changed me. My understanding of plant medicine has changed me. Instead of resisting that evolution, I've decided it's time to let the apothecary evolve with me.

I've discovered something that feels surprisingly simple:

I don't want to be in perpetual production.

Plants don't live that way. Forests don't live that way. Even the body doesn't live that way.

Everything alive has seasons of growth, abundance, rest, and renewal.

So should an apothecary. It is, after all, a mirror into our wellness... or not.

So...

This summer has become my seasonal siesta. A sacred pause before the harvest.

A season for studying, formulating, dreaming, traveling, gathering inspiration, tending the garden, and making room for what wants to emerge next.

Beginning this year, this will become the natural rhythm of Morningstar Medicinals.

From September through May, you'll find new seasonal releases, fresh formulations, markets, classes, events, and the bustling energy that autumn always brings.

Then, each June, July, and August, the apothecary will begin winding down. Much of the shop will move to clearance as existing inventory finds new homes, making space for entirely fresh medicine to arrive with the turning of the season.

Instead of carrying every single product all the time, the apothecary itself will now breathe.

Just as nature intended.

If you've had your eye on something, now is the time to stock your home apothecary. This is the deepest sale you'll see all year before the shelves begin filling with autumn's medicines and my year-round staples.

One final note: the shop will also be closed September 16 through October 2 while my family and I travel to Italy. Orders placed before then will be shipped as usual, and we'll reopen the following week with the beginning of our favorite season.

Thank you for allowing this little apothecary to grow alongside me.

Every season has shaped it.

Every one of you has, too.

Here's to slowing down, listening closely, and returning in the autumn with hands full of fresh medicine.

xx Dannica
