White Willow (Salix alba)
Willow (Salix alba) is the original source of soothing relief—an ancient ally whose bark inspired modern aspirin. With its bitter, astringent taste, willow works closely with the musculoskeletal and mucosal systems, helping to ease aches, calm inflammation, and cool tension throughout the body. It also supports the digestive and liver systems, especially when heat or irritation is part of the picture. Ruled by Water and guided by Saturn, willow embodies steady, grounded medicine—disciplined, cooling, and protective. It’s particularly helpful when discomfort feels sharp or fiery, or when inflammation makes movement feel restricted. Willow reminds us that healing doesn’t always roar—sometimes it’s a gentle flow, a slow unwinding, the quiet release of pain you’ve been holding onto for too long.
