Fire Cider is an oxymel (infused vinegar and honey elixir) that you can use by itself, on salads, in teas, or in any way that you can imagine! It first gained mainstream popularity when it was introduced by Rosemary Gladstar in the 1970's. Since then, herbalists far and wide have been putting their special twists on the original recipe, creating a variety of flavors and versions.
My favorite ways to enjoy Fire Cider are to either take a shot of it and relish in the tartness OR to mix equal parts Fire Cider and hot water with lemon and honey to make a tea. The flavor is one of sweet vinegar but with zesty, spicy, and smooth notes.
Directions:
Shake well. Take 1 Tbsp daily or as needed for an immune boost during cold months or mix one part cider with one part hot water to make a tea. This is a natural, homemade product. As such, color and taste may vary. Settling is normal and some solid plant matter may be present.
Shelf stable. Refrigeration is not required, but recommended. If you keep it refrigerated, it lasts indefinitely, though color may change and cloudiness may increase.
Never give honey to infants under 1 year of age.
